About

Hi there!

We are all about Creating a connected future for Nigeria

Our story

Our Journey
The development of broadband in Nigeria began in the early 2000s, spurred by the expansion of mobile networks and the adoption of 3G technology. Recognizing the potential of broadband to transform lives, the Nigerian government launched the National Broadband Plan (NBP) in 2013, targeting 30% broadband penetration by 2018. This plan laid the foundation for enhancing infrastructure, affordability, and digital literacy across the nation.

Our Work
BTAF has been pivotal in advancing broadband awareness and education, particularly through initiatives like the Broadband Technical Awareness Forum for Governors. These events provide decision-makers with insights into the socio-economic benefits of broadband technology. Key achievements include:

  • Boosted Broadband Investments: Increased connectivity and digital inclusion in several states following the forum.
  • World Bank Collaboration: A partnership to remove financial barriers, such as covering right-of-way fees, accelerating broadband deployment.

Our Vision for Legislators
With ongoing digital transformation, BTAF proposes a targeted forum for legislators, aiming to:

  • Deepen understanding of broadband’s applications and benefits.
  • Foster policy frameworks to enhance broadband deployment and innovation.
  • Unite stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to address challenges collaboratively.
  • Equip lawmakers to advocate for initiatives advancing broadband and digital literacy.
Our Vision

To create a digitally connected Nigeria where everyone has access to high-speed internet, fostering innovation, education, and economic growth.

Our Mission

We are committed to empowering Nigeria through broadband by bridging digital divides, driving investments, and fostering a digitally inclusive future. Join us in shaping the nation’s connectivity journey!
